Solihull Community Paediatric Team offers appointments in homes, clinics and schools, telephone appointments and virtual workshops to support parents and professionals. We have team meetings, supervision and CPD sessions each month to support individual and service development. We offer opportunities for home working, and have a base in the north and south of the borough.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 who would like a part time, temporary position. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who have a passion for paediatrics and who want to develop their skills and knowledge within a supportive environment. We value new ideas and contributions to develop and improve each of our pathways.

Main duties of the job
The Solihull Children's O.T team works in collaboration with children, young people and their families, aged 0-18 with a range of developmental and complex physical needs including, but not limited to, DCD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down's syndrome. We work at clinic bases, schools, nurseries, and homes across the area.
Duties of a Band 5 O.T in this setting include:
To be responsible for planning, organising and prioritising own caseload and non-clinical duties
Provide assessment in the areas of self-care, school and play/leisure.
Take a client-centred approach and to advocate on behalf of the child and/or their carers where appropriate
Assess the impact of the environment (physical, social, sensory and cultural) on a child/young person's occupational performance
Assess and make recommendations for the provision of specialist equipment and to monitor its use
Set collaborative SMART goals with children, families and relevant professionals
Use evidence of current best practice to plan, facilitate and evaluate appropriate interventions
Teach therapeutic techniques to parents, carers and education staff to enable them to carry out an OT programme for a child or group of children
Evaluate progress using appropriate outcome measures and to modify strategies where appropriate
Work confidently and effectively within the multi-disciplinary team
Assist in the creation and delivery of service workshops to both families and professionals
