Job Introduction

As a band 5 school nurse, you'll be part of our valued school nurse team based out of Greenways hub in Chippenham, working in Chippenham and surrounding areas. This post will be an all year round, fixed term position for 12 months starting from September 2025.


As part of the school nurse team you will provide school age children, young people and their families with a service that promotes the physical, mental and emotional health of school age children/young people and provides support for families/carers by partnership working in a community setting. The aim of the service is to reduce inequalities, safeguard children and improve outcomes. You willl hold a caseload and will mobile work in the community supporting children and young people in schools and at home completing drop in sessions, 1:1's and contributing as part of a wider team in supporting with child protection and safeguarding in line with our policies and procedures


Main Responsibilities
Understanding the concept of Clinical Governance and be skilled in the identification, assessment and protection of vulnerable children and families To support the school nurse community service as part of the skill mixed public health team. To contribute to the development of the School nursing service in the defined locality through liaison with and support from the Specialist School Nurse and innovative practice to meet health needs. Ensuring a child centred service is delivered through active engagement with young people in the planning and delivery of the service in the locality area. Working across organizational boundaries to contribute towards the identification of population health needs in line with the Organisation's policies and priorities To lead on delegated work from the Specialist School Nurse, utilizing Nursing skills of leadership, prioritization and assessment. To collaborate with key partners to address public health needs as an advocate for children/young people, families/carers and the school health service.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse who has a keen interest or experience in working with children and young people in the community. You must be passionate about working in a team and supporting the wider organisation in delivering our commissioned service.


Posess a full driving licence.
