The Post holder, will have the responsibility to facilitate the training of all staff in the safe and competent use of medical equipment
The post holder will ensure a strategic and coordinated approach that will recognise and minimise the associated risks in relation to the use of medical devices during patient care.
The post holder will be required to formulate, implement and evaluate a multi-disciplinary competence-based education programme with a full range of supporting training materials. They will have knowledge in evaluating training needs, directly deliver training and assess staff using devices across the organisation. They will ensure that evidence of staff training is documented and recorded centrally, providing reports as required.
Main duties of the job
Facilitating training sessions
Assist with the development of training outlines, session plans, learning objectives, competency statements and visual aids ensuring a consistent approach to training is implemented and delivered across the Trust to all medical device users.
Assess training and educational needs of staff using medical devices
Support the Link Trainers in all clinical areas to deliver standardised training on an ongoing regular basis to all medical device
Negotiate and plan training input with suppliers of medical devices to the Trust on an ad hoc and annual basis following purchase agreements.
Schedule and supervise company-training sessions that will comply with standards of performance for Trust staff in the safe and competent use of equipment.
Collaborate with Heads of Departments and the identified links, recognising and establishing medical device training needs of staff on a targeted and demand led basis.
Verify that all relevant training policies and procedures are consistent with legislative requirements and the requirements of Trust policies, amending where necessary and highlighting discrepancies to relevant key stakeholders.
Contribute to the maintenance of Trust procedures in the reporting of faults and adverse incidents to Medical Engineering Department and Risk Management.
Establish and maintain paper-based documentation and computer-based training records ensuring a robust records system.
