Job Description

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will play a pivotal role in the Tottenham Talking Project, providing therapeutic support and facilitating various activities aimed at improving the mental wellbeing of adults (18+) experiencing mental health challenges in Haringey.



Tottenham Talking (TT) is a community mental health project offering both a group programme and 1:1 engagement as a means to connect with the community, socialise, learn new skills and work on goals.TT was made by Bridge Renewal Trust (Charity) and North London Foundation Trust (NHS). TT also works in conjunction with several community organisations to co-facilitate groups these are some of the following: Connected Communities, Mind in Haringey, Clarendon Recovery College and more. Our staff consist of peer support workers, an Art therapist, Psychologist, volunteers and a Project Co-ordinator.



The OT will work collaboratively with peer support workers, volunteers, and local community organisations to deliver a holistic and inclusive programme. The post holder will be expected to contribute to ongoing service development and governance processes, engage in supervision of volunteers and be involved in training and research initiatives as appropriate. This is a rolling 1 year fixed term contract dependent on funding for the Tottenham Talking Project.



The role involves leading and co-facilitating therapeutic and activity-based groups, developing specialised sessions for neurodiverse individuals, and providing one-to-one peer support. It includes assisting participants with goal setting and safety planning, teaching self-management tools, and offering employment support through collaborations. The role also focuses on community engagement, organising public events, and working with local organisations to enhance community development. Monitoring and evaluating service impact, providing training for peer workers, and engaging in reflective practice are key components. Additionally, the role addresses inequalities and stigma, manages administrative duties, and requires skilled communication across cultural barriers.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.
