We are looking for an experienced and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our passionate and supportive Occupational Therapy Team in Swindon . Our service provision covers Acute and Rehab in-patient wards as well as Community Recovery Team for adults of working age.
You will provide and supervise professional OT service provision to our Rehab Ward. In addition you will have the opportunity to support Occupational Therapy service provision to Applewood ward, a 16 bedded acute admissions ward for adults of working age in the acute phase of their mental illness and support of OT service provision in Recovery Community Team. The opportunities to work within different settings will broaden your experience and add to you professional work satisfaction as we strive towards an effective continuity of care between the relevant services.
To deliver Occupational Therapy process of assessment, intervention and evaluation with reference to the relevant guidelines and legislations and with application to up to date and evidence based practice.
To work as an autonomous professional managing own case load.
To provide standardised and non-standardised specialist assessments.
To develop, facilitate and monitor individual as well as group intervention programme.
To work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team attending ward rounds, Care Programme Approach meetings, discharge meetings and providing timely feedback.
To delegate and supervise junior OT staff members.
To support the service with the prioritisation, planning, development and delivery of a high quality occupational therapy service in accordance to local OT Mission Statement goals.

Clinical Practice
To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas ensuring that high quality evidence based occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, interventions and evaluations for service users are provided.

To develop and Implement appropriate intervention strategies.
To evaluate the effectiveness of therapy provided.
To implement research based practice.
To work in collaboration with MDT staff.
To work within CPA framework and approach.
To provide leadership to junior, unqualified staff and students.
To undertake risk assessment and develop risk management strategies for individual service users.

To apply clinical reasoning and justification in designing appropriate group programmes and protocols.
To demonstrate working knowledge of the key elements of relevant mental health legislation.
To apply a high level of understanding of the effect of disability and provide training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the service users social and physical environment.
