Job Description

The important role provides support the Chief Pharmacist and Head of Radiopharmacy to ensure the radio-pharmacy service meets its quality, activity, and financial targets. The post holder will support the technical team in implementing and complying with quality systems and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) within the radio-pharmacy aseptic facility and to supervise personnel undertaking QA activities.
Main duties of the job
Work with other Trust pharmacy aseptic sites to co-ordinate consistent approaches to Quality assurance
Providing specialist advice on QA procedures and equipment
Advise on deviations which impact product quality and safety
Participate in QC testing of products
Monitor, interpret and trend environmental monitoring results
Participating in some aspects of the Production rota
Support preparation for inspections from regulatory agencies, for example, the MHRA
Assess and analyse stability data
Co-ordinate departmental and operator validations

Essential

  • Must have the following:
  • * Knowledge of pharmaceutical service procedures obtained through NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science plus theoretical study and practical experience of managing staff, resources and additional knowledge to degree or equivalent level
  • Or
  • * Clinical Pharmaceutical Scientist training (complete)
  • And
  • * Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council or Science Council or an appropriate professional body e.g. RSC or RSB or HCPC.
  • * Mandatory CPD to assess fitness to practice
  • * Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation or willing to complete
  • * Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician or willing to complete
  • * Pre and In-Process Checking course or willing to complete
  • * Product Approval Accreditation Programme or willing to complete
Desirable
  • Education Qualifications
  • * Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Professional Qualifications
  • * Dispensing Accuracy Accreditation. West Midland's scheme or equivalent.
  • * Accredited Checker Technician.
  • * Leeds University course in Aseptic Preparation and Dispensing of Medicines /Aston University course in Technical Pharmacy Training in Aseptic Processes or willing to complete.

  • * Significant post-qualification experience in a hospital setting as a registered Pharmacy Technician or the ability to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge and the relevant practical experience for the post.
  • * Significant experience within a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • * Experience of the specialist function for area of responsibility.
  • * Experience in delivering training and supervision of others.
  • * Experience of planning workload according to departmental priorities.
  • * Specialist knowledge of clean room practice. and technology and its practice application in aseptic preparation.
  • * Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP), MHRA licensing requirements,COSHH.
  • * Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service including quality and audits.
  • * Understanding of dispensing, stock control, supply, and I.T systems and processes
