An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Physiotherapist in the inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic (T&O) Team at Good Hope Hospital.
The successful candidate will have exposure to a caseload including (but not limited too) primary THR and TKR surgeries, complex arthroplasty revisions, elective day surgery procedures such as ACL reconstructions, upper and lower limb ambulatory trauma, spinal cord injury, acute fractures and general medicine.
The successful candidate will be joining a fantastic team where teaching, training and development are a key priority. This is delivered through weekly in-service training, 1:1 supervision, and shadowing of clinics/outpatient services if part of the T&O pathway and relevant to their learning needs.
It is important to note that this role does involve respiratory competencies as there is an expectation to contribute to the respiratory on-call service, treat ward-based chest patients, and post op ITU T&O patients.
There is also an expectation to contribute to the evening day case rota which covers until 8pm Monday-Friday.

Main duties of the job
*To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to inpatient Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) within University Hospitals Birmingham at Good Hope Hospital, incorporating extended hours over a 7 day working pattern.
*To hold responsibility for own inpatient T&O caseload, providing physiotherapeutic assessment, management, and treatment of a range of orthopaedic patients. This will include injuries from trauma, elective surgery, and daycase surgery, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
*To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.
*To contribute to T&O evening day case rota, and respiratory on-call rota across the organisation.
*To assist with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
*To assist with supervision, education and co-ordination of generic therapy assistants, and junior therapy staff
*Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
