An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individual to join our friendly lung function & sleep team in one of the largest hospitals in the UK.
Successful applicants will join a vibrant team that thrives on providing high quality diagnostic and treatment services. They will require excellent interpersonal skills, be able to motivate and develop others, enjoy working as part of a team but also be able to work autonomously with some degree of responsibility. The successful applicant would be expected to be proficient in a number of respiratory and sleep physiology investigations, with the ability to provide accurate and detailed reports for the clinical team.
Applications are invited from experienced Band 5 physiologists and current Band 6 physiologists with a relevant degree and experience working within a respiratory physiology department. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a face-to-face interview at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, England.
Main duties, tasks & skills required

The successful candidate will be proficient in performing and interpreting a full range of respiratory investigations performed within the department. These include;
Full pulmonary function tests with administration of bronchodilator therapy where indicated
Respiratory muscle function
Assessment of bronchial hyper-reactivity
Field exercise testing including ISWT & 6MWT
Capillary blood gases
Perform basic and more complex sleep investigations
Initiate CPAP therapy and provide appropriate support and follow up for patients
They must be able to contribute to the daily running of the department and be involved in the quality control and maintenance of equipment.
The successful candidate will also be involved in the training and supervision of junior staff.
