You will have the opportunity to rotate through a number of specialties at the respective site. Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) will offer emergency medicine, trauma and orthopaedics, oncology, cardiology, renal, neurology, general medicine and liver.
You will be encouraged to undertake a clinical diploma or equivalent RPS Foundation pathway and subsequently non-medical prescribing qualification. You will also be supported by formal induction training and dedicated time for education and training.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for hard working individuals ready for a new challenge to help support the delivery of high quality care in one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country. Due to a number of promotions in the team to support expansion of our services, we are looking for a number of pharmacists to join our team. You will have the opportunity to rotate through a number of specialities.
Using our advanced electronic patient record and prescription tool PICs, you will work alongside our technical team to review medicines reconciliations, optimise patient's medications and verify discharge prescriptions.
You will provide an extended service to the Acute Medical Unit as part of a larger clinical team to support medicines reconciliation at the point of admission ensuring excellent care to patients admitted to UHB.
You will work as the Responsible Pharmacist in our main dispensaries supporting the workflow as well as clinically screening clinic charts from a wide variety of specialities.
This post holder will work weekends and bank holidays as per rotas, as well as a late-night service in our dispensaries and providing on-call services with support from a more experienced pharmacist.

Qualifications
Essential

  • *4 year vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • *Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • *Has commenced or is willing to commence a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification
  • *Evidence of continued Professional Development in Pharmacy related matters
Desirable
  • *Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • *Member of UKCPA
  • *In-house training and accreditation for formulation of PN and final check of aseptic products
  • *To be willing to work towards a non-medical prescribing qualification
