Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join the Learning Disability CAMHS service covering Bristol and South Glos.



We are a creative an innovative service dedicated to delivering best practice to our service users. This post holder will hold qualifications in Positive Behaviour Support,



Must be a qualified Nurse, Psychologist or other health and social care professional with additional training in PBS.



This is advertised as a full-time post for 37.5 hours per week.



To provide specialist Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) services for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviours that challenge.



The post holder will deliver direct assessment/intervention services to children and their carers referred to the service.



The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be professionally accountable to the service lead for their practice and conduct.



Provision of specialist advice, consultation and training for other professionals, teams and agencies involved in the care of children with learning disabilities.



Propose changes in service developments, guidelines, protocols and projects relevant to children with learning disabilities in consultation with the service lead.



Undertake or support research and audit relevant to this area of healthcare.



Provision of teaching, as required, to other staff from other agencies.

To provide a range of Positive Behavioural Support services to support children and families referred to the service.



Together with other members of the team, to formulate and implement plans for the assessment and intervention and/or management of emotional and behavioural difficulties of clients, based primarily upon the science of applied behaviour analysis (i.e., behavioural science) and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.



The interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including measures of behaviour, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients' care, including frontline workers in health, education, social services and the voluntary sector.



To evaluate and make decisions about intervention options taking into account both the theoretical model and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.



To work as part of the service and provide evidence-based, specialist behavioural function-based assessments and interventions for children and young people with Learning Disability and behaviour that challenges.



To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the delivery of positive behaviour support services.



To provide clinical reports within the appropriate time scales.



To provide consultancy and staff support for other staff within multi-professional, service delivery systems for children and young people referred to the service and their carers.



To provide supervision to other professionals within and outside of the CAMHS LD service.
