What you'll be doing
In this dynamic and hands-on role, you will:
Deliver safe, effective and compassionate care to patients within the anaesthetic environment.
Prepare and check the anaesthetic room, ensuring all equipment and supplies are safe, available and appropriate for the day's theatre lists.
Assist with receiving patients from the ward and supporting them through their peri-operative journey.
Work closely with Anaesthetists, Surgeons and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless communication and excellent patient outcomes.
Administer and document drugs and procedures in line with clinical and organisational policies.
Support the safe handover of patients to Recovery teams.
Contribute to maintaining stock levels, reporting equipment issues and participating in stock checks.
Promote high standards of infection prevention and control within the Anaesthetic department.
Participate in clinical teaching, supervision and maintaining your own professional development.
Uphold best practice, clinical governance and patient confidentiality at all times.
Bank shifts give you the opportunity to work flexibly across our theatre schedule, depending on service needs and your availability.
What we'll look for in you
We're seeking proactive, skilled and compassionate clinicians who can thrive in a busy theatre environment.
You will need:
A recognised Operating Department Practitioner qualification or qualification in Anaesthetic Nursing
Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience in Anaesthesia and/or Recovery
Strong understanding of anaesthetic procedures, patient safety and peri-operative care pathways
Excellent communication skills - able to work confidently with patients, clinicians and theatre teams
Good organisation, time-management and accurate record-keeping skills
A positive, flexible and collaborative approach to working within a multidisciplinary team
Confidence to work under pressure while maintaining high clinical standards
Competence with Microsoft Outlook and basic IT systems
