About Smoothstone Care and Education

We are an independent special school with 3 care homes and our aim is to provide safe, stimulating care and aspirational educational opportunities to children aged between 11 and 18 with a range of complex speech, language and communication difficulties including autism. The young people may also have additional learning difficulties and display associated challenging behaviours.

We are looking to recruit competent, experienced, and passionate bank support workers.

Candidates will have at least six months experience within a similar setting, a working knowledge of autism and will already hold a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or equivalent or be willing to work towards it Candidates will hold a valid driving licence

Qualified Support Worker starts from 25,511.88 (27,591.88 on average including sleep-ins)

Unqualified Support Worker starts from 24,761.88 (26,841.88 on average including sleep-ins)

Annual salary uplift of 500 on successfully completing the first year in the role, further 500 salary uplift for completing the second year with further increments offered in recognition of experience or additional responsibilities to a maximum of the top of the band. (pro rata for part time).

Our bank rate is 12.21 per hour

Positions

Early shifts, late shifts and full days with occasional sleep in duties, are available All successful candidates will be expected to display a commitment to promoting the safeguarding and wellbeing of our Young People and to participate in all activities with the young people Some of our roles require male or female employees only, where this is indicated it is a genuine occupational requirement, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010
