Our lovely residential home based in Thorrington, Colchester is currently seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our fantastic team on a full time, permanent basis, in flexible working pattern and contracted hours. Job description



Assisting residents with personal care duties such as bathing, dressing and toileting. Supporting residents with their day-to-day activities. To ensure the residents skin is checked on a regular basis, identifying and reporting any significant changes and concerns to senior carers on shift. Assisting residents during meal times and their fluid intake. Documenting the completed tasks in the residents care plans, i.e., care notes, stool charts, positional change charts, food and fluid charts. To work in accordance with a rota that supports meeting the care needs of the home. This will include working alternate weekends, evenings, bank holidays and/or any other shift pattern that has been established by the Registered Care Manager based on the needs of the care home. Identifying and reporting signs of poor practice or abuse. To be involved in the social activities and outings with residents. To attend and participate in training and staff development programmes as identified in the staff appraisal system. To participate in other duties delegated to you by the Manager or Deputy which may be required from time to time to ensure the efficient running of the Home and the safety and well-being of the Residents.

Person Specification



Level 2 in care preferable, however not essential. Genuine interest in working within a caring environment. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Team Player. Adopts a positive and professional approach when dealing with residents to meet their needs. Willingness to participate in vocational training programmes. Willing to undertake e-learning. Understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act. Understanding of Infection Control. Satisfactory DBS check.

Shift pattern



48 plus hours per week - from 8am to 8pm / 8am to 2pm / 2pm to 8pm, alternative weekends off.

Breaks for 12 hour shift- 15 min(paid)-30 min(unpaid)-15 min(paid)
