Priory Hospital Hemel Hempstead is looking to recruit a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join the team.



Located within picturesque grounds, Priory Hospital Hemel Hempstead supports the NHS by offering level 2 rehabilitation services for male and female patients with severe and enduring mental health needs.


We also provide specialist Huntington's disease and dementia care for people living with these neurodegenerative conditions, as well as neuropsychiatry support.###

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Healthcare Assistant you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients. Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such addressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation. Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate. Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or a related area, or an equivalent or higher recognised qualification. They should also have GCSEs or an NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths. It is acknowledged that not all new recruits will have obtained the NVQ Level 2 qualification upon appointment; however, they will be expected to begin the process of attaining it within six months of joining and complete it within a specified timeframe. While experience of working in a related environment is desirable, it is not essential.
