Job Description

BANK Kitchen Assistant duties



PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:



To provide kitchen assistance to a quality catering service at St Catherine's, in the preparation and provision of meals to the residents and visitors, ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.

Please note - There is no cooking required for this post.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



To ensure that the kitchen is clean, hygienic and operational, and assist the Cook with the preparation of food.

Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen, food store cupboards and surrounding areas and also of equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level of cleanliness.

To participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of agreed menus with particular awareness of special diets required by our residents and visitors.

To participate in the creation of a supportive, homely environment for residents and the community.

To respect and care for all residents as individuals, ensuring that their personal choices and preferences are respected and that individual dignity is respected at all times.

To ensure personal compliance with St Catherine's catering policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, basic food hygiene, C.O.S.H.H and security and fire safety regulations.

To adhere to infection control procedures and policies that minimise the risk of cross infection.

To adhere to the planned cleaning programme for the kitchen and dining areas.

To carry out shopping as and when required.

Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.

To inform the Registered Care Manager / Senior Staff member on duty of any untoward incidents, complaints, accidents in the Home or in the grounds of the Home.

To report any faults, loss or damage to equipment, paying particular attention to electric appliances, cables and sockets.

To attend staff meetings as required.

To keep and maintain all appropriate records in a processional format and manner.

To liaise with other staff members of St Catherine's and maintain the discipline necessary for effective teamwork.

To maintain the desired standards of behaviour, dress, general appearance and hygiene that gives an efficient and effective service delivery.

To undertake staff training programmes in liaison with the Registered Care Manager.

To be supported and enabled in personal development and skills through supervision and annual appraisal.

Undertake any other reasonable duties that are commensurate with the job.

BANK Housekeeping Duties

Key Responsibilities



Operational



? To ensure that the personal space and belongings of each resident are treated with the utmost care

? To ensure that the privacy of each resident's personal space is promoted and the requirement for

confidentiality

in all matters relating to resident/staff team members is understood

? To become familiar with and adhere to a planned cleaning programme for the home

? To ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas of Housekeeping

? To adhere to

Infection control procedures

and policies that minimise the risk of cross infection

? To participate in the creation of a supportive homely environment for residents and the community

? To report any faults, loss or damage to equipment, paying particular attention to electric appliances, cable and sockets

? To maintain adequate supplies of cleaning and equipment within the home

? To participate in light catering duties as directed by the Registered Care Manager.

? To be familiar with safe handling of chemicals procedures and to adhere to

C.O.S.H.H

regulations

Personnel



? To maintain desired standards of behaviour, dress, general appearance and personal hygiene that gives an efficient and effective service delivery.

? To ensure personal compliance with The Daughter of Charity's Policies and Procedures, including Health & Safety and Security Regulations.

? To undertake annual staff training programmes in Manual Handling, Fire and Smoke Safety and C.O.S.H.H awareness.

? To attend regular staff meetings.

? To offer a flexible approach to the role of Housekeeper; to account for the varying needs and demands of the housekeeping service delivered by the Daughters of Charity.

? To be supported and enabled in personal development and skills through supervision.

The post holder must at all times carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the company's Equal Opportunities Statement.

The post holder must carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the non-smoking environment of the Charity.

The post holder must accept responsibility for ensuring that the policies and procedures relating to Health and Safety in the workplace are adhered to at all times.

The post holder must respect the confidentiality of data stored electronically and by other means in line with the General Data Protection Regulation of 2018.

Ensure risk assessments are actioned as necessary, in line with policies and procedures.

The home is committed to the principle that no member of staff should work, on average, more than 48 hours per week. Staff who do exceed this limit need to complete an 'opt out' form. Any member if staff who undertakes work outside the Home, regardless of whether they exceed 48 hours or not, must inform their manager of this in writing.
