Sellywood House Nursing Home

is looking for a Kitchen Assistant who efficiently works within a commercial or institutional catering environment.

Kitchen Assistant Specification:

1.1 Supporting chefs in a specific work section
1.2 Washing, peeling and preparing food items
1.3 Using a variety of kitchen equipment such as mixers, special knives and cutters
1.4 Unloading deliveries
1.5 Organising the storeroom
1.6 Washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls
2.1 Maintains a clean cooking and food preparation environment at all times
2.2 Familiar with hazards within the kitchen and read appropriate risk assessments
2.3 Regularly reviews the storage and condition of food and provisions, the cleanliness of the environment, personal hygiene/protective clothing etc. in order to minimise/eliminate the possibility of infection and disease
2.4 Participates in, as directed, all activities related to quality improvement in menu planning, food preparation and delivery etc.

Work Experience:

Basic certificate in Food hygiene. At Least 1 year's experience in commercial or institutional catering, providing varied menus. Conversant with Environmental Health and Health and Safety regulations/legislation etc. governing the preparation, storage and cooking of food. Satisfactory DBS
