To provide high-quality nursing care without direct supervision, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of resident care. The Registered Nurse will take charge in the absence of the Senior Nurse and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residents in a compassionate and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care, documenting appropriately in care plans.
Administer prescribed medication safely and accurately, monitor effects, and maintain proper records.
Manage stock and controlled drugs in line with policy, ensuring daily checks and accurate documentation.
Carry out nursing procedures and treatments according to company policies.
Liaise with residents, families, GPs, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care.
Monitor and report changes in residents' conditions and maintain accurate records.
Participate in resident admissions, discharges, and aftercare.
Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment, reporting any defects.
Provide holistic care addressing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs.
Respond appropriately in emergency situations and direct others as needed.
Maintain effective communication with families and report incidents promptly.
Participate in quality assurance and service development initiatives.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with NMC guidelines for registration and professional development.
Administrative Duties:
Report complaints and assist with investigations.
Familiarise yourself with and adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
Safeguard residents' belongings and valuables in accordance with policy.
Ensure new staff are aware of health and safety procedures during induction.
Ensure all accidents/incidents are properly reported and documented.
Personnel Management:
Lead the care team when designated "in charge."
Supervise and support Enrolled Nurses and Care Assistants.
Assess learning needs and ensure professional record-keeping.
Manage staff allocation and inform line manager of rota changes or cover needs.
General Responsibilities:
Support the Senior Nurse and act as deputy when required.
Promote a professional and caring image of the organisation.
Participate in fire drills and mandatory training.
Assist with staff induction and training programmes.
Attend staff meetings and contribute positively to team culture.
Ensure safety and accident prevention for residents, staff, and visitors.
Promote good housekeeping and resource management.
Demonstrate initiative in updating skills and sharing knowledge.
Perform any other duties required to fulfil the role effectively.
