Job Title: Bank Staff - Early Years Practitioner
Location Newent Early Years Reports To Room Leader and Nursery Manager
Job Purpose To provide high-quality, flexible childcare cover as part of a team caring for children aged from babies to five years. Bank Staff are called upon as needed to support permanent staff in maintaining safe, stimulating, and nurturing environments that encourage the physical, emotional, and cognitive development of every child. Main Responsibilities Assist in the daily care of children, ensuring their welfare, safety, and well-being at all times. Work flexibly across different rooms and age groups as required by the nursery's needs. Follow daily routines and activities planned by permanent staff, engaging children in play, learning, and development opportunities. Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating environment, adhering to all health, safety, and hygiene requirements. Build positive, professional relationships with children, staff, and parents/carers. Support children with personal care routines including feeding, changing, toileting, and dressing as needed. Observe and interact with children to support their learning, following the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework. Follow all policies and procedures including safeguarding, confidentiality, and equality and diversity. Attend staff meetings and training sessions when required. Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Room Leader or Nursery Manager.
Person Specification Experience working with children in an early years setting (desirable but not essential).
Relevant childcare qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Early Years) preferred; unqualified applicants with a passion for working with children will be considered.
Flexible, reliable, and available to work at short notice. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Positive, friendly, and approachable manner. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Willingness to undertake training and development as required.
Hours and Pay Hours are variable depending on the needs of the setting, with shifts offered on an ad-hoc basis.
Pay is competitive and will be discussed at the interview.
