A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join HappyWoods nurseries, well focused with a friendly team. We provide high quality care and education to all the children at HappyWoods nurseries. We are fully accredited with the Heathy eating Awards by the Mayor of London and hold a 5 rating for our food hygiene practices at both settings. We are looking for a Nursery Chef to join our friendly team as bank staff. Working in childcare offers a fun and varied schedule.
You will be responsible for preparing a suitably balanced rotating menu taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children. Ensure high standards of hygiene, health and safety is maintained in the kitchen at all times.
Post:
You will be covering the Chef absence, sickness & Holidays
You will be provided enough notice when needed
You will be preparing the children lunches, snack & tea each day.
And maintaining high cleaning standards for the kitchen.
Sorting the groceries for the setting via the online groceries portal
Completing the kitchen records
Location:
The nursery is located in Lewisham and caters for 20 children on a daily basis. The nursery has sustained 5 start rating for the past consecutive 5 years.
There is free street parking available with excellent transport links and plenty of amenity shops.

Essential criteria:
Up to date Food and Hygiene Qualification;
Experience as a cook: Minimum for 1 year in a commercial setting;
Passion for work with children;
A great cook!
Key Accountabilities
To provide catering services for the nursery, cooking for children from the ages of 0-5 years old in line with the food standards agency and nursery policies and procedures.
To follow the required menus of the nursery with creativity;
To communicate any relevant information required to follow the food and drink policy and health and safety procedures with all members of staff;
To use the administration process of foods appropriately to enable policies and procedures to be followed accurately;
To ensure the legal aspects of health and safety are followed in line with the food standards and company's policies and procedures;
To undertake any relevant training, and when required, to train other members of the catering team;
Adhere to all company policies and procedures;
Provide a positive practice role model;
Ensure that all children dietary requirements are followed;
Notify Designated Officer of any dietary or safeguarding concerns;
Maintain a positive attitude at all times with children, parents, colleagues and visitors;
Ensure confidentiality, where appropriate, is maintained;
Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures and undertake a shared responsibility for cleanliness and health and safety throughout the nursery;
With support work as part of a team to ensure the company's values are maintained;
To ensure all production, service and presentation of food is to the company's standard;
To ensure the prompt service of all meals and snacks are to the company's requirement;
To ensure all catering activities are carried out in-line with agreed budgets;
To ensure any comments regarding the catering operation - positive or negative are noted and acted upon;
Follow environmental services procedures and documentation;
Ensure all aspects of the "health and safety at work act" are complied with in operation, with specific reference to; safe working practices, hygiene practices, fire procedures and staff training;
Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations;
Attend regular staff meetings and undertake training as required;
Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line manager;
