Who you'll be supporting & more about the role:
Are you a positive and motivated person who is experienced in supporting individuals within their own homes?
Are you looking to gain great experience in a satisfying job where you feel supported?
If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you've been looking for!
At Moredun, we support 7 individuals who live in their own homes in the
Gilmerton area
of Edinburgh.
In this service, you'll support individuals with mental health concerns, autism and physical disabilities to live independently in their own homes. The people we support enjoy a wide range of activities, including socialising, watching movies, shopping, cooking, sports, music and travelling. However, they're always up for trying new things, so are looking for inventive people who are up for the challenge.
At times, the individuals we support can be challenging, so experience of using Positive Behaviour Support would be beneficial in this team. We are currently recruiting for bank roles only.
In this service, you can expect to support individuals with:
Medication administration
Cooking and home maintenance
Social support and support to achieve personal goals
Finance management
Our teams provide support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so we ask for flexibility to work a variety of shifts including
days, waking nights and sleepovers. Some weekend availability would be beneficial!
Our shift patterns can vary but are generally:
- 8am - 10pm
- 9am - 7pm
- 8am - 2.30pm
- 2.30pm - 10pm
- 10pm - 8am (Sleepover)
Your values:
The people we support like to be supported by people who respect them and their homes, but who also like to have fun!
We like people who are reliable and honest and are able to remain calm under pressure, so they can support people effectively and build fantastic relationships.
