Bank Support Worker

Norwich, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job Overview
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children in Care Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play an essential role in providing support, care, and guidance to children and young people in care. This role requires a strong commitment to enhancing the well-being and development of those in your care, while ensuring their safety and promoting a nurturing, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Provide emotional, physical, and practical support to children and young people in care, helping with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation. Offer guidance and support in managing challenging behaviours, using appropriate strategies to promote positive behaviour and well-being. Create a safe and supportive environment by actively engaging with children and young people, fostering healthy relationships and promoting social skills. Assist in planning and supporting educational activities, after-school programs, and recreational outings. Support children and young people with appointments, school meetings, and social activities, ensuring they have the appropriate resources and transport when needed. Work closely with social workers, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to ensure individual care plans and interventions are followed. Maintain accurate records of interactions, behaviour, and progress, and promptly report any concerns or changes in the child's well-being. Administer first aid if necessary, ensuring the safety and security of children at all times. Provide respite care when required and assist in the transition of children back to their families or permanent placements.
Qualifications

Previous experience in a care, social work, or childcare setting is preferred. A valid driving license is beneficial, especially for transportation and attending appointments. First aid certification is essential; additional training in safeguarding and child protection is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children and their families. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. A compassionate, empathetic approach towards working with children and young people in care. Relevant qualifications in childcare, social work, or youth work would be beneficial but are not mandatory.
We are seeking individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children in care. If you are committed to providing support that nurtures growth and development, we would love to hear from you.
