FINANCE ASSOCIATE - BANKING & FINANCE

EDINBURGH OR GLASGOW PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

• As an Associate within our growing Banking & Finance team, you will enjoy a fantastic depth of work on a variety of banking matters including general corporate banking, leveraged and acquisition finance, real estate finance and structured finance, representing banks, financial institutions and corporate borrowers.
• This hire is a response to increasing demand from our diverse and expanding client base and to support the firm's wider ambition to build one of the UK's most dynamic and future-focused Finance practices - integrating sector expertise with deep technical skill and a commercial mindset.

THE TEAM

• The AG Finance Group as whole has significant capability in Corporate Banking, Leveraged Finance, Funds Finance, Speciality Finance, Structured Finance & Derivatives, Debt Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance and Social Housing Finance, with 30 partners and over 85 other fee earners in the UK.
• The AG team has been systematically growing in both revenue and reputation over the past few years and are committed to the continued growth and development of our comprehensive finance offering.
• The team enjoys a formidable reputation amongst domestic and international banks, building societies and other major financial institutions as well as sophisticated borrowers.
• Our market leading lawyers have extensive experience across a diverse range of finance-related assignments including underwriting, primary syndication and debt transfers (including portfolio transactions).

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE

• This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with excellent prospects for career development.
• You will handle your own matters (with supervision) and assist the Partners on more complex matters with exposure to large and high-profile local, UK and international transactions.
• As well as the lender-side work, you will also regularly assist corporate borrowers on high value, high profile and often complex transactions.
• You will be working with colleagues who are ranked best in class in the legal directories. You'll benefit from great training, well developed precedents and know how, and constantly developing legal technology.
• Continuous development is valued, and you will be encouraged to engage with formal training programmes (whether technical or skills based) and to draw on mentoring, coaching and leadership development programmes available to you.
• There may be opportunities for client secondments as your career with us progresses, within and beyond the UK.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
To be successful in this role:

• Based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, you are a UK-qualified solicitor with 0-2 years PQE and a strong legal background focussed on banking and financial law.
• You have a sound knowledge of the UK financial sector and the rules which govern it.
• You have plenty of drive and enthusiasm to provide the highest standard of client service.
• With excellent people skills, you are a high-quality communicator with a flair for developing relationships.
• You are commercially astute and want to learn and develop as a first-class lawyer.
