About The Role
The role
As a paralegal in our close-knit and busy banking team, you'll be based in our Manchester office, working closely with Banking Partners Richard Sealy and Chris Lister, as well as other team members across the Banking Unit. The Manchester Banking team handles a range of banking and financial matters from start-up to exit, managing financial and governance responsibilities throughout.You'll act for lenders across the sector, providing end-to-end advice to help clients manage risk and comply with regulations.
Our borrower clients include large corporates, owner-managed businesses, property developers, and investors, many of whom we've had long-term relationships with. You'll gain exposure across our National Banking Unit and assist the wider national team, with opportunities to broaden your expertise and quickly take on more responsibility. This role offers a hybrid mix of office and home working.
The team
Our Banking & Finance team has a wealth of experience in all aspects of banking & finance transactions. We act for lenders across the sector, providing end to end advice which helps our clients to manage risk and comply with regulatory requirements. We act for a wide range of financial institutions including the major UK clearing banks, challenger banks, specialist lenders, asset-based lenders and numerous fund-based lenders. Our borrower client base encompasses a wide variety of organisations including large corporates, owner-managed businesses, property developers and investors, many of whom we have had a close on-going relationship with for a number of years. Our practice is extensive and wide ranging covering a wealth of banking expertise.
We have one of the most active private equity and acquisition finance offerings in the market, with experience of acting for private equity houses, management teams and debt funders (including banks and speciality debt funds) across a number of debt structures). We also have an extensive real estate finance practice, with experience in real estate acquisitions, investments and developments and managing extensive portfolios with relationships with various lenders, major house builders and developers across a range of sectors. We have experience in specialist work for asset-based lenders. As well as acting for many ABL funders in the market, our breadth of experience and knowledge of each funder's requirements means that we are also able to act on multi-bank transactions involving different lending products.
The person
Our successful candidate will ideally have a degree in law or will be working towards a post-graduate legal qualification. This would be a perfect opportunity for an ambitious candidate who wishes to progress long term with the firm. Alternatively, you may be a career paralegal who wishes to progress your career, assist senior level lawyers and develop your skillset within a highly successful banking & finance legal environment.
You will have the ability to work as part of a team whilst also being able to manage your own workload. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
