full time, fixed, salaried position. 40 hours per week

General Manager Heads of Department Food & Beverage Team Kitchen Team Central Support (HR, Finance, Marketing) Customers

Job Purpose / Summary



To oversee and manage all operational aspects of the Bar and Restaurant, ensuring excellent guest experience, efficient service delivery, and maximization of revenue. Responsible for leading and developing the team, maintaining brand and legal standards, and achieving departmental KPIs related to service, quality, profitability, and compliance.

Core Accountabilities & Performance Indicators



1. Operational Excellence



Manage daily Bar and Restaurant operations ensuring smooth service and adherence to brand standards. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements (Health & Safety, Food Safety, Licensing). Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene standards of all service areas. Conduct and attend daily and weekly operational meetings. Oversee event service delivery, coordinating with Kitchen, Conference, and Banqueting teams as required.

2. Customer Experience



Deliver a consistent, high-quality service that exceeds guest expectations. Handle and resolve guest complaints promptly, recording outcomes to identify improvement opportunities. Lead by example in providing warm, professional, and efficient service. Promote upselling and cross-selling initiatives to enhance guest experience and revenue.

3. Financial & Commercial Management



Prepare, monitor, and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and rotas in line with business demands. Control costs through effective stock management, waste reduction, and efficient scheduling. Ensure compliance with stock control procedures; complete monthly stock takes with variance analysis. Maximize revenue through promotions, local marketing, and sales awareness initiatives.

4. People Management & Development



Recruit, train, and develop a motivated, skilled, and customer-focused team. Conduct regular 1:1s, probation reviews, and annual appraisals, setting performance and development goals. Promote a positive team culture that values communication, recognition, and continuous improvement. Ensure staff are trained in service standards, health & safety, fire, and COSHH procedures,

5. Compliance & Safety



Ensure all Bar and Restaurant operations comply with company and statutory Health & Safety and Food Safety standards. Lead by example in maintaining safe systems of work. Ensure all team members are trained in emergency and fire procedures.

6. Quality & Brand Standards



Maintain and improve Mystery Guest, AA, or internal brand audit scores. Regularly benchmark service standards and product offerings against competitors. Participate in the achievement and maintenance of quality awards and certifications (e.g. Investors in People).

Additional Requirements



Must hold or be willing to obtain relevant licenses (Personal License, Food Hygiene). Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and events. May be required to carry out Duty Management shifts as part of the leadership team.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to 29,100.00 per year
