Job Summary

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic part-time waiting staff to join our vibrant team in our fine dining restaurant environment at Thirteen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As a member of the front of house team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our guests have an enjoyable dining experience by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and assisting with any needs they may have.

Responsibilities

Greet and welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner. Take accurate food and drink orders using the restaurant's ordering system. Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring presentation meets our standards. Upsell menu items to enhance the dining experience and increase sales. Monitor tables for guest satisfaction, responding promptly to requests or concerns. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service of meals. Basic cleaning tasks to maintain a tidy restaurant. Manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently during busy periods.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant, bar or hospitality setting is essential. Knowledge of barista coffee and cocktail preparation is advantageous. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with guests. Basic wine serving skills are beneficial for assisting the sommelier when required. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Thirteen is open Wednesday - Saturday. We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We serve Sunday lunch several times a month (not every weekend). The restaurant is on Ashley Road, halfway between John Lewis and Waitrose. There are bus stops for both directions only a minute from the restaurant. Thirteen is on the M1/M2 bus route, and within walking distance of Branksome train station. All staff get an equal share of gratuities, dependent on hours worked. This is a zero-hour contract, with an opportunity to increase as business grows. Immediate start.
