Job Description

We are looking for an experienced barista and front of house colleague to carry out barista and customer service duties within our Maids of Honour Team of 6 in a beautiful setting at The National Archives on the Kew Riverside.

Hours and Days of Work. Applicants need to be able to work (as a minimum) Tuesdays to Fridays daytimes/full days with occasional Saturday/Sundays availability an advantage and in rotation with our staff to suit the needs of the business.

The job involves all aspects of hot drinks preparation (barista), food prep and handling and service of customers, mainly in the coffee bar which is an annexe of our main counter and designed for quick service and 'grab and go' offering of cold and hot drinks, sandwiches, crisps, biscuits, cake, soup etc. Other duties include (but not limited to) maintaining, cleaning and clearing the cafe bar preparation and service areas, hygiene and records, stock monitoring and reporting for ordering.

All of our produce is hand-made by the team on the premises or produced in our dedicated historic bakery near The Gardens. The Team is self-sufficient and this makes the work varied and interesting .

Previous barista and customer service experience is essential. Good customer service skills and a love for hospitality also required!

All extra hours and overtime are paid. Payroll is weekly in arrears ('week in hand'). Sometimes The Archives are open Sundays and they are open most Saturdays (even though very much quieter than weekdays) and you should be able to work some of those Saturdays and Sundays to be fair to all staff, who share these shifts. Extra payments are made for evening events and Sunday-working.

Starting earnings depend on experience, capability and number of hours per week and assumes 46, but the role can also be less than 46 pro rata.
