Job Description

Are you passionate about great coffee, tasty food, and working in a friendly, outdoor cafe environment? The Shepherds Baa at Lynford is looking for a warm, motivated Barista / General Catering Assistant to join our growing team!

Shepherds Baa is a family-run, independent outdoor cafe nestled next to the beautiful Lynford Arboretum and Lakes. Since opening in 2021, we've built a loyal following for our great coffee, cakes, and relaxed setting. As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone who can confidently serve coffee and refreshments while also assisting in the kitchen with food prep when needed.

Responsibilities



Provide excellent customer service by promptly serving customers with quality drinks and products, whilst maintaining a clean and comfortable environment Use a specialist coffee machine to produce different types of coffee to a consistently high standard, ie espresso, cappuccino, latte and Americano, as well as specialist teas, hot Deliver excellent customer service with a friendly, helpful attitude Assist with light food preparation (e.g., paninis, toasties, sandwiches) during busy periods or when needed Operate the till and handle cash/card payments accurately Ensure all customer areas are clean, tidy and safe at all times, including the toilet as well as the customer seating areas Support stock control and deliveries Follow all hygiene and health & safety procedures Contribute to a positive team environment and help support the development of our cafe as we grow

Requirements



Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role (preferred but not essential - training provided) Willingness to assist in the kitchen with food prep as required Holds a Food Hygiene Certificate (or is willing to obtain one) Excellent timekeeping and reliability Friendly, confident, and proactive personality Ability to work under pressure and multitask during busy periods Team player with a can-do attitude Flexibility to work at least one weekend shift per week

Experience



Barista: 1 year (preferred but not essential) Customer service: 1 year (preferred but not essential)

Work schedule



This role can either be a part-time or full-time role (minimum 18 hours per week), to include weekday shifts and at least one weekend shift.

Rates of pay



Exceeds National Minimum Wage plus enhanced weekend pay
