We are seeking an experienced, passionate barista to join our team at England's Grace, the premier fine dining establishment in the St. Johns Wood High Street.
As our Head Barista, you will be responsible for operating our state-of-the-art coffee machine and brewing exquisite coffee to exacting standards using pour-over and other specialty methods. You must have an expert palate, able to distinguish subtle flavour notes and tweak recipes to coax the absolute best from each coffee. Knowledge of different brew methods and parameters is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
Drink Preparation and Quality Control:
Ensure that all coffee and beverage preparations adhere to the restaurant's high standards for quality, presentation, and taste
Develop and implement standardized recipes and preparation methods for consistent drink quality
Continuously taste and evaluate drinks to maintain flavour profiles and make adjustments as needed
Collaborate with the culinary team to create seasonal and specialty beverage offerings
Inventory and Equipment Management:
Manage and maintain an adequate inventory of coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies
Oversee the proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of all coffee equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and brewers
Implement procedures for proper handling, storage, and rotation of coffee beans and supplies.
Customer Service:
Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with guests, answering questions, and providing recommendations
Ensure that all beverage orders are accurately prepared and presented in a timely manner
Address and resolve any customer concerns or complaints professionally and promptly
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the coffee bar area
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Implement and enforce safety protocols for the handling of hot beverages and equipment
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Head Barista or Barista Supervisor in a high-volume, upscale environment
Extensive knowledge of coffee brewing methods, drink preparation techniques, and coffee bean varieties
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent customer service and communication abilities
Attention to detail and commitment to achieving consistent quality standards
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Education and Certifications:
Barista certification or relevant coffee education is preferred
Food handling and safety certification may be required
