Front of House Barista / Kitchen Assistant

About the Role:

This is a customer-facing role with a strong focus on coffee-making, service, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere in the cafe. Ideally, you'll also be comfortable jumping into the kitchen when needed -- flexibility is a big plus in our small, tight-knit team.

Ideal Candidate:

Hospitality experience

(essential) - You know how to work a floor, take orders, and keep customers happy.

Barista skills

- Confident with coffee machines.

Understanding of food safety

- You know your way around hygiene practices and safe food handling.

Kitchen experience

(highly desirable) - Ability to assist with food prep or plating during busy periods. Strong communicator with a positive, team-focused attitude. Works well under pressure and takes initiative.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all surfaces are sanitised. Support chefs during service by preparing ingredients and plating dishes as required. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, adhering to all safety guidelines. Assist with serving food and beverages to customers, providing excellent customer service. Follow food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Zero hours contract

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 35 per week
