Abbey, Widcombe, Freshford and Larkhall Delis are independently owned cafes in Bath. We offer breakfast, lunch and outside catering with a passion for home cooking.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Preparing and making coffee to trained standards and serving food, tea and drinks plus collecting money. (till operation)
Ensuring the cafes are fully stocked and can meet the menu at all times, notifying the Manager or kitchen staff of any shortage.
Clean the cafe areas, inside and outside and ensure they are safe and hygienic at all times. (following Covid-19 guidelines)
Check that all cafe facilities, equipment or furnishings are in good order and to report any damage.
Follow the normal operating plan, ensuring correct opening and closing times and setting up and clearing down as required and specified.
Assist with preparing food for bookings, ensuring these are ready on time.
Monitor expenditure, stock, wastage and use-by dates
Ensuring the completion of daily financial paperwork and cash handling and that all expenditure is covered by an invoice or receipt.
Respond promptly and professionally to any customer feedback, comments or complaints.

Be familiar and up-to-date with all policy and procedures in particular our safeguarding policies.
Uphold the highest standards of health and safety, cleanliness and professionalism and use your own initiative to respond quickly to issues or challenges that may arise when you are on duty.
Act as a role model for all staff, inspiring them to engage in the services and understand and appreciate the practicalities of running a cafe (behaviour breeds behaviour)
Supervise and operate opening up/closing down procedures
Challenge and inform management regularly
Any other duties as would be expected of a cafe worker
Availability to work within opening hours (including weekends and holidays)
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
Manage day-to-day operations of the cafes and be able to attend both sites if required
Hire and train staff and baristas where appropriate
Help train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment and food prep if necessary
Maintain and update records of daily, weekly and monthly EHO standards
Suggest new menu items based on seasonality and customers' preferences (for example vegan coffee drinks) - have a knowledge of the competition
Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and the team and deliver excellent customer service at all times
Ensure all cafe areas are clean and tidy and all daily tasks and routines are met and approved
Dress and Uniform to be clean, tidy and appropriate at all times - an apron must be worn with our logo on it if possible. Personal hygiene to be exemplary and hair, makeup, clothing to be appropriate.
Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost reputation.
Work experience as a Cafe Manager/supervisor/worker or Barista essential
Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines essential
Additional certification (e.g. in Business Administration or Hospitality) is a plus
