To provide specialist advocacy and legal advice in civil and commercial disputes. The Litigation Barrister represents clients in court, arbitration and mediation. The role exists to protect clients' legal rights, provide clear and strategic advice, and achieve effective dispute resolution outcomes in line with UK law and professional standards. The Litigation Barrister will also oversee the work of the Litigation Solicitor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide expert legal advice on civil and commercial disputes, including strengths and risks, and potential outcomes.
Draft pleadings, opinions, skeleton arguments and other legal documents to support dispute resolution strategies.
Represent clients in court hearings, trials, mediations, and arbitrations.
Conduct in-depth legal research and appl case law, statutes, and procedural rules to complex disputes.
Liaise with solicitors, clients, and expert witnesses to ensure comprehensive case preparations.
Maintain compliance with the BAR Standards Board (BSB) Handbook and uphold professional and ethical duties.
Required Qualifications
Qualified Barrister with current practising certificate from the Bar Standards Board.
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in dispute resolution, civil or commercial litigation
Strong knowledge of UK civil procedure and dispute resolution processes.
Demonstrate advocacy, drafting, and negotiation skills.
Excellent analytical, research, and communication abilities.
