Job summary
We are currently recruiting for a
Beef Breeding Projects Manager
to work Monday to Friday on a hybrid basis. This role will involve attending our HQ in Coventry, usually 2 days per week, working from home and at off-site meetings. A full UK driving licence is essential along with the flexibility to travel when required.
Working closely with the Lead Animal Genetics Expert, this role is responsible for managing the practical application and delivery of our research and development programme for beef genetics, from initial concept through to final reporting, by engaging with key stakeholders across the sector.
Experience or strong knowledge of the beef industry is essential, along with the confidence to build credibility and trust with breeders, farmers and industry bodies. We are looking for a skilled and proactive project manager with a background/degree in biological or agricultural sciences. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role will focus on engaging with external stakeholders.

Job description
Be the main point of contact for beef genetics projects and deliver these to support the beef genetic services
Manage practical delivery of data collection projects on farm, working with farmers and other project participants to translate project requirements into practical on-farm protocols
Negotiate and liaise with breeders, farmers, industry bodies and other stakeholders involved in AHDB genetics research projects
Actively seek and pursue funding opportunities to collect more data to support genetic evaluations
Establish and maintain contact with the industry through participation in meetings, events and open days
Maintain and update scientific and technical knowledge
Manage a range of external contracts to ensure research deliverables are achieved
Liaise with a wide range of external stakeholders including breed societies, breeding companies and processors
Support the Lead Animal Genetics Expert in delivery of national beef evaluations activity
Ensure processes are in place for accurate data collection from partner farmers in projects
Coordinate and administer relevant governance and working groups
Person specification
Knowledge of, or experience in the beef industry and ability to work with farmers
Relevant degree or equivalent knowledge in biological, agricultural or related discipline
Proven track record in project management
Clear evidence of organisational and negotiating skills
Ability to collate/manage data and learn new software
Good written and oral communicator
A valid full UK driving licence with the ability to travel
