We are delighted to offer a new opportunity for a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join our Special Educational Needs Department, working closely with students who present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is designed to provide targeted support to students who may require additional regulation strategies throughout the school day, with a strong emphasis on practical engagement and relational development. Through acting as a positive role model, the right candidate will promote respectful language and behaviours, enabling holistic development, within school and the wider community.
Alongside supporting students within the classroom environment, this position offers the opportunity for the right candidate to facilitate practical activities--such as sport, engineering, and hands-on learning experiences--that promote emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour. These activities will be tailored to individual student interests and needs, providing meaningful breaks and opportunities for self-regulation and reflection.
This position will involve working collaboratively with the SENCo and wider pastoral team to identify students requiring SEMH support and implement structured break and intervention sessions. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of behaviour support strategies, monitor student progress, and maintain clear communication with staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
It is hoped that through introducing this new role, we will be able to further enhance our provision for students with SEMH needs, offering them a safe and structured environment in which to thrive. The right candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in sport, and other practical disciplines, and will be confident in using these interests to build rapport and engagement with students. They will also show adaptability to assigned tasks, flexibility in their approach, and initiative in developing new opportunities for regulation and support.
This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding of SEMH provision, develop your skill- set in behaviour support, and contribute meaningfully to the holistic development of our students at Salendine Nook High School. We are dedicated to supporting every child, ensuring they leave our school as well-rounded, confident, and successful members of society.
