Job Summary:

DAW Signs & Fit-Outs is looking for a skilled and motivated Bench Hand Joiner to join our busy workshop team. You'll play a vital role in producing high-quality bespoke joinery for our signage and fit-out projects, working across a variety of timber-based materials.

Responsibilities:

Interpret and work from technical drawings to produce accurate and bespoke joinery components. Fabricate and assemble wooden structures, fixtures, fittings, displays, and counters using a range of materials including MDF, plywood, laminates, and solid timber. Utilise hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and assemble components to precise measurements. Apply high-quality finishes including sanding, laminating, and edge banding to ensure a professional standard. Perform heavy lifting and material handling tasks as needed in the workshop or on-site. Conduct quality control checks to ensure all joinery meets specified standards before dispatch or installation. Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production deadlines and project timelines. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised bench area, following company safety procedures at all times. Be willing to travel to site for installation of items when required. Collaborate with workshop and production staff to maintain workflow and resolve challenges effectively. Contribute to toolbox talks and take part in maintaining health and safety in the workshop.

Skills

Proficient in bench joinery and carpentry techniques Skilled in the use of hand tools such as saws, drills, planes, and chisels Capable of reading and working from technical and scaled drawings Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to carry out heavy lifting and operate safely in a workshop environment Comfortable working at height, including on roofs if required Competent in assembling and fitting wooden fixtures, fittings, and structures Basic knowledge of related tasks such as electrical adjustments and plumbing during installations Ability to apply high-quality finishes including painting, varnishing, or staining Team-oriented with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills

Requirements

3 years' experience as a bench hand joiner preferred or in a similar joinery role Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with accuracy NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery, or equivalent qualification preferred Strong understanding of timber types and their appropriate applications Willingness to carry out site installations when required Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines Full UK driving licence desirable CSCS card preferred but not essential Must be eligible to work in the UK

Hours are Monday - Friday 08:00 - 16:30

Salary negotiable depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 14.00-16.00 per hour
