We have a unique opportunity for a Permanent, Full Time,
Benefits and Back to work Practitioner
to join Southampton City Council (SCC) in what will be our Family Help Service.
About the team:
The Family Help services will be frontrunning in their support to families, focusing on intervention and strengths. Scaffolded with strong permanent managers who offer robust, intelligent, reflective and trauma informed supervision making their oversight to anyone joining this service feel detailed and safe when managing complex situations with our families. Within an equally mostly permanent workforce, who pride themselves on working with families. You will be part of being able to enhance outcomes for children and the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in all of this support to children, young people and their families in the focus on employment helping parents back to work.
About the role:
Looking to support parents / individuals gain confidence in their ability to go back to work. Enabling stronger motivation and aspirational thinking for them as parent and adults in their own right. Providing information to others supporting the family with assessments and care planning for the family as a whole.
Supporting with the changes to financial circumstances and benefits without loss. Helping parents understand their financial implications to any universal credit claims once in employment
Enabling localised support to parents / individuals in their community to overcome any barriers.
An advisory capacity around sourcing work through various job platforms, use of social media and advertising links.
Positive role modelling in employment and career / job aspiration for children in their care. Helping them to see beyond Universal credit and feel improved self worth.
About you:
Connecting and building relationship with families and individuals will be a crucial part of this role as well as being able to converse with professionals as both your colleagues and other agencies.
You should hold a NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field such as Health or Social care. Working with families in this arena with a sound knowledge around benefits would be essential.
Passion and drive to support families improving their outcomes seeking employment and positive role modelling.
Working with positivity, and understanding, being empathetic to struggles that maybe generational in their approach to work or where families have had long periods of time out of employment and need support with their confidence in their own abilities to get back into the workforce.
Excellent communication skills and a strengths based approach is a necessity.

What we can offer you:
Salary: The salary band for this role is 32,061 to 36,362. The
starting salary is 32,061
with annual progression through the salary bands.
