We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Bereavement Nurse Specialist. This pivotal role provides leadership and expert knowledge across the Trust, ensuring families and colleagues receive high-quality, empathetic support during times of loss.



You will play a vital role in shaping and delivering our bereavement service, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide emotional support, practical guidance, and clinical expertise following the death of a child.



About You



Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.



Strong clinical expertise and leadership skills.



Education to Masters level or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through a combination of in-depth experience, postgraduate or post-registration study and/or specialist courses.



Exceptional empathy, listening, and communication skills.



Experience in supporting families through bereavement or complex emotional situations.



A passion for developing and delivering an exceptional bereavement service.



Reporting into the Deputy Chief Nurse, some of your responsibilities will include:



Provide specialist bereavement support to families and colleagues, offering empathy, advice, and practical assistance.



Lead the development and evaluation of evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies in line with the Trust's Quality Promise.



Deliver effective clinical leadership to promote compassionate, high-quality care.



Participate in the Joint Agency Response (JAR) on-call rota for unexpected child deaths.



Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, sensitive care pathways.



Ensure every bereaved family receives ongoing bereavement support, including opportunities for memory-making and signposting to additional services and resources.



To line manage the Bereavement Coordinator including responsibility for wellbeing, appraisal, mandatory training, performance and attendance at work.
