Axil is growing - and we're looking for a Bid Manager who thrives on structure, strategy and winning business. This is a pivotal role owning the end-to-end bid, contract and renewal lifecycle, bringing rigour, pace and commercial excellence to everything we do.


You'll be the expert partner to our Sales Director and wider commercial teams, ensuring opportunities are pursued smartly, bids are compelling, contracts are robust and renewals deliver long-term value.

What you'll be doing




?? Bid & Pre-Sales Leadership

Own and lead the full bid management process, from opportunity identification and PQQs through to final submission Manage tender portals, deadlines and uploads with absolute precision Support bid writing, proofreading, formatting and value articulation Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate drafting while maintaining Axil's voice and quality Track bid performance, no-bid decisions and future strategic opportunities

?? Contracts & Commercial Governance

Review and manage contracts, SoWs, MSAs, NDAs and variations Escalate legal and risk issues where required Develop and maintain standard clause libraries, templates and playbooks Support NEC3 / NEC4 contracting approaches (desirable)

?? Renewals & Retention

Own the renewal calendar across existing contracts Work with Contract Management and Sales teams to maximise retention, margin and upsell Proactively identify commercial triggers such as price uplifts and usage changes

?? Governance, Insight & Enablement

Implement best-practice commercial processes, approvals and audit trails Maintain version control and structured storage of all commercial documents Track and report KPIs such as win rates, cycle times and renewal performance Build and maintain Axil's commercial asset library (including PandaDoc) Enable the wider business with playbooks, checklists and guidance

Essential experience and skills:



Proven B2B sales and bid management experience Strong background in bid writing, PQQs and proposal development Commercial acumen with solid deal-making experience in the UK waste and recycling market Understanding of general and hazardous waste services and Total Waste Management implementation Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong project management, organisation and attention to detail Working knowledge of contract law and risk management Confident operating at Board and senior stakeholder level Tech-savvy, including CRM systems (HubSpot preferred) and AI tools

Qualifications:



Good standard of education Full UK driving licence Strong numeracy and IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Working Hours:



Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm with flexibility required
