As a Bid Manager within our Future Business Team, you will be at the forefront of generating compelling and competitive bids to grow our business and deliver world class products to our customers. You will be a core member of a small team, working on numerous opportunities with multi-functional personnel from across the business to deliver detailed and coherent bids to our customers.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage the bid elements of life cycle management, from PQQ through to submission and post-submission activities, in line with RBSL's business strategy and governance.
Creation and ownership of Bid Schedule / Bid Book Plan and management of bid team activities and actions in line with the bid plan
Create bid artefacts as required for the bid activities being undertaken (including both customer deliverables and internal assurance artefacts)
Manage overall budget for bid work; monitor costs, timescales and resources used, and act where these deviate from agreed budget or agreed task contingency
Manage bid progress, organise key meetings and status reviews ,and provide relevant background material to reviewers as required
Ensure effective governance is implemented (i.e. Assurance Framework and other review mechanisms) and mandated reporting policies are adhered to.
Schedule / organise meetings with key stakeholders to ensure focus and compliance, in line with the requirements and strategy of the business.
Close down of the "project" at the end of a bid, including personal performance reviews, project lessons learned and harvesting of reusable collateral (i.e. improved propositions, updated processes, reusable modules)
Carry out lessons learnt activities post bid submission to ensure continuous improvement, ensuring lessons are fed back to the team and actioned accordingly
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
Essential:
Proven experience within a Bid Management role.
A developed knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes associated with the management of bids.
Demonstrable awareness of the business winning environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to cohere cross-functional teams, manage relationships across all levels of the business, and manage key stakeholders.
A self-motivated team player, able to operate with minimal supervision to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and respond to requirements in a dynamic manner.
Excellent communication skills combined with proven ability to forecast and report on bid/project progress.
Desirable:
A bid management certification
Demonstrable awareness of latest Bid Management best practice techniques
Defence sector experience within a business winning role.
High level proficiency in MS office (particularly Excel) and business winning / Bid Management tools & software.
