Job Description



The following document defines the roles and responsibilities of the Blending Skilled Operative who reports to the Blending Team Leader.

Responsibilities



To carry out blending, processing, and associated production activities safely, accurately and efficiently. The Skilled Operative is responsible for following blending instructions, maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety, completing required documentation, and supporting the Team Leader in achieving production targets and quality standards across the department.

Production & Operations



Carry out blending and processing activities in line with production instructions, recipes, and SOPs. Set up, operate and monitor equipment, machinery, and blending tanks to ensure efficient and safe operation. Accurately weigh, measure, and handle raw materials and ingredients as required. Complete all paperwork, checks, and batch records accurately, including double-check sign-off where required. Support the Team Leader in achieving daily production schedules and targets. Communicate any issues, delays, material shortages or equipment faults promptly to the Team Leader. Assist with cleaning, and preparation of equipment for subsequent batches. Participate in continuous improvement activities, suggesting ideas to improve efficiency, quality or reduce waste. Support training of new starters or agency staff when requested by the Team Leader. Attend and engage positively with daily/weekly briefings and updates.

Quality, Hygiene & Food Safety



Follow all food safety, hygiene and quality procedures at all times. Ensure that Clean As You Go is consistently applied throughout production. Handle ingredients, intermediates, and finished products in a food-safe manner and in accordance with policies. Monitor product quality during blending and immediately report any anomalies, contamination risks or specification concerns. Ensure no incorrect, contaminated or out-of-spec ingredients are used; stop the process and report issues to the Team Leader. Carry out routine product sampling and basic quality testing (e.g., pH, viscosity) as instructed. Maintain high levels of hygiene in blending areas, ensuring machines, tanks and utensils are cleaned to SOP standards. Support the team in maintaining compliance with internal standards and customer audit requirements.

Health & Safety



Always follow company Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work. Wear all required PPE and ensure it is used correctly. Conduct equipment pre-use checks as required, reporting defects immediately. Operate forklifts or other machinery only if trained and authorised to do so. Report all hazards, near misses, spillages or unsafe conditions promptly to the Team Leader. Assist in maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Communication & Teamwork



Work collaboratively with team members, supporting a positive and respectful working environment. Communicate clearly with the Team Leader regarding progress, issues and improvement opportunities. Liaise with Warehouse and Quality teams when required to ensure smooth and efficient production flow. Participate in training, development and performance discussions when requested.

Skills, Experience & Attributes



Experience in food manufacturing, beverage production, blending or similar process operations (preferred). Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. Good understanding of hygiene, food safety and quality standards. Competent in completing paperwork accurately and legibly. Able to operate machinery safely and efficiently (training provided as necessary). Forklift licence desirable (or willingness to train). Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Additional Information



This role may require lifting, carrying and manual handling. Overtime, weekend or shift work may be required depending on business needs. Training will be provided for all procedures, equipment and quality standards.

Working Hours will consist of, Night shift 9pm-6am 5 shifts per week:



Sunday night to Thursday night (inclusive)

Sunday night at 9pm to Monday morning at 6am

Monday night at 9pm to Tuesday morning at 6am

Tuesday night at 9pm to Wednesday morning at 6am

Wednesday night at 9pm to Thursday morning at 6am

Thursday night at 9pm to Friday morning at 6am

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,000.00 per year
