Blood Transfusion Electronic Blood Tracking (EBT) system manager and trainer - Band 5
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, enthusiastic people to support Blood Track TX (an electronic Blood Tracking system). It is a fixed term contract.
We are looking for an organised individual who can work as part of the Trust Transfusion Team and also autonomously. You should be an excellent communicator with experience of managing IT systems and of teaching and demonstrating a new system. You should ideally but not essentially, have knowledge and experience of blood transfusion practice.
Your duties will include support of the EBT IT system which includes but is not exclusive to responding to alerts and queries generated by the users, management of the equipment, liaising and working with system providers and Trust ICT. Teaching will include training Trust staff in the system. In addition the post-holder will assist with policy and protocol development, audit, incident reporting, liaison with the clinical staff and laboratory staff. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and learn new skills, as blood transfusion practice is continually evolving in response to Government and Patient Safety initiatives.
Main duties of the job
Is responsible for the safe use of the equipment:
Overseeing and evaluating training
Provide support to improve compliance.
Monitoring competence to identify training requirements.
Responsible for the maintenance of the equipment by:
Device set up & validation
Responding to alerts
Ordering equipment
Organising servicing and maintaining documentation.
Liaising with the ICT regarding the interface with other ICT based equipment/software
Ensuring there is an adequate stock and maintaining loan equipment
Testing EBT equipment and performing software updates.
Working within the Transfusion Team:
Reviewing SOPs related to EBT
Ensuring adequate Change Control and validation is undertaken:
Working with the transfusion laboratory to resolve issues relating to Traceability.
Responsible for the software and hardware maintenance contracts.
To be a point of contact for planned IT system down time.
Develop Risk Assessments.
Monitoring/ updating the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) form
Report incidents via Datix.
Utilise self-directed working across both Trust sites.
Participate in networking
The post-holder will engage with appraisal.
The post-holder will participate in audits.
