ROLE TITLE:

Multiskilled Technician

REPORTING TO:

Bodyshop Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:



MET: To dismantle and reassemble damaged vehicles in accordance with the repair estimate whilst following/checking the methods/procedures as issued on every job. Ensure all safety-related items and materials are within the use-by dates and are fit for purpose. Deviations from the estimate or methods issued should be reported to the estimator immediately.

PANEL: To repair or replace, as necessary, bodywork panels of damaged vehicles according to the instructions received or details on the job card. This may include chassis and framework.

PAINT: To prepare, spray and efficiently finish vehicles, ensuring correctness of colour match and final finish to the company and customer's expected standard.

Qualified Staff - Your main tasks will be completed without supervision and include providing direct supervision to non-qualified technicians where applicable.

MAIN TASKS



MET:

Ensure that stripping and rebuilding work of all vehicles is carried out professionally and correctly, and that quality checks are undertaken in line with our process, which includes providing direct supervision to non-qualified staff. Ensure that all jobs are completed within the estimated times. Advise your Line Manager of any additional work identified when working on a vehicle. Check that all parts are ordered as per the estimate, to ensure that the repair can be completed without delay, returning all unused parts to the parts department for credit. Be aware of and adhere to all the housekeeping and health and safety regulations and policies applicable to your position and working environment.
PANEL:

Dismantling and repairing damaged vehicles by either repairing damaged panels or replacing those beyond repair. All equipment used, including jigs, fixtures, and welding equipment, will be operated as per the instructions, level of qualification and prescribed safety standards. Adhere to the manufacturer's literature and modification bulletins as appropriate to the repair and replacement of chassis and panel work. Where appropriate, attend training courses to enable you to be updated on new techniques and produce development. Handle all vehicles with due care and attention, ensuring that customer care/satisfaction is always maintained, keeping the company's tools and equipment safe and in a clean, workable condition.
PAINT:

Understand the general principles of spray-painting technology, paint composition, paint mixing and the various methods of paint-spraying vehicles. Also, to update your knowledge regularly when product developments/improvements take place. Attend training courses as necessary. Prepare vehicles fully before painting to include masking, sanding, and other necessary preparation work. Spray paint to the required finish/standard, always having regard for customer care/satisfaction. Always use the prescribed safety apparatus/clothing, attend company-arranged medicals and follow all necessary guidance provided by the medical professionals. Report any deterioration in health or vision to your Line Manager without delay. Keep all company tools and equipment safe and in a clean, workable condition, paying particular attention to the reduction of any fire hazards. To co-operate with colleagues and team leaders to ensure that common objectives and group targets are achieved.

OTHER DUTIES



Due to the size and complexity of the establishments you will undertake any other reasonable tasks or duties that are deemed to be within your capability, as directed by a senior manager to whom you have a reporting relationship.

PAY AND BENEFITS:



Up to 52,000 OTE - includes site bonus and is dependable on experience and qualifications.

A minimum of 3 years' experience is essential and ATA accredited in one of these departments is preferred.

Hours are 8am - 5pm Monday - Friday, 30-minute lunch break.
