Bookkeeper / Finance Manager - Property & Development

About the Role
We are a growing property development and investment company based in Greenwich, seeking an experienced and proactive Bookkeeper / Finance Manager to manage all day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for a confident, detail-oriented individual with strong bookkeeping experience and a background in the real estate or property sector. You will take ownership of financial management, ensuring compliance with HMRC, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the directors with financial planning and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate accounting records for all group companies and development projects.
Process all invoices, payments, and receipts efficiently.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and intercompany balances.
Prepare monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and cost summaries.
Manage weekly and monthly payroll, including PAYE, NI, and pensions.
Oversee CIS returns and ensure correct subcontractor payments.
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines.
Liaise with lenders, banks, and financial institutions for drawdowns and reporting.
Maintain financial compliance and assist external accountants with statutory filings.
Support directors with budgeting, reporting, and process improvements.
Experience & Skills Required
Minimum 4 years' experience in bookkeeping or finance management within the property or real estate sector (essential).
Proven experience using Xero accounting software (essential).
Excellent working knowledge of HMRC compliance, including VAT, CIS, and PAYE.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion.
Experience liaising with lenders, contractors, and professional advisers.
Preferred Qualifications
AAT Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Accounting (or higher).
ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) qualification or equivalent.
Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA candidates will be considered an advantage.
Ongoing CPD or certification in property or construction finance is beneficial.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: 38,000 - 45,000 per annum (depending on experience).
Pension contribution.
