Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented

Bookkeeper

with experience in

QuickBooks

to manage the financial transactions of our business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, processing invoices, handling payroll, and ensuring compliance with CIS regulations.

This role is ideal for a proactive individual who can work independently while supporting the finance team in maintaining financial health and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities: Bookkeeping & Financial Transactions:



Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using

QuickBooks

. Process supplier and customer invoices, ensuring timely payments and collections. Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions regularly. Prepare and process VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.

CIS Management:



Process CIS payments and deductions for subcontractors. Submit CIS returns and ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations. Verify subcontractors with HMRC and maintain accurate CIS records.

Payroll & Expenses:



Process payroll, ensuring accurate calculations of wages, deductions, and taxes. Handle staff expenses and ensure reimbursement policies are followed. Maintain accurate records of employee working hours and pay structures.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:



Assist with month-end and year-end financial reports. Generate profit and loss statements and other financial reports as required. Support the preparation of financial statements and liaise with external accountants. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including HMRC requirements for

CIS and VAT

.

General Administration:



Maintain organized digital and physical records of financial documents. Liaise with suppliers, clients, and subcontractors regarding payment queries. Assist in improving financial processes and systems for efficiency.

Key Skills & Requirements:

CIS Expertise

- Strong knowledge of

Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

, including compliance, deductions, and reporting.

QuickBooks Proficiency

- Experience in managing accounts, invoicing, and reporting using

QuickBooks

.

Bookkeeping Experience

- Proven experience in bookkeeping, preferably within the

construction or facilities management sector

.

Attention to Detail

- High level of accuracy in financial record-keeping and reconciliations.
?

Financial & VAT Knowledge

- Understanding of

VAT returns, payroll, and general tax compliance

.
?

Organizational Skills

- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
?

Communication Skills

- Strong ability to liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams professionally.

Qualifications & Experience:



AAT Level 3 or higher

, or equivalent bookkeeping/accounting qualification (preferred).

Minimum of 2-3 years of bookkeeping experience

Strong knowledge of

HMRC CIS regulations and VAT reporting

. Proficient in

QuickBooks (Online/Desktop)

and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience handling

payroll and expense management

is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 25,000.00-28,500.00 per year
