We're a small, friendly, husband-and-wife-run accountancy practice based near Rolvenden, Kent. We're looking for a detail-oriented and highly organised Bookkeeper to support some of our key clients with day-to-day bookkeeping.
You'll be responsible for managing a high volume of transactions across several software platforms. The role requires proficiency in Xero, Dext, and Excel, as well as a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles. You'll work primarily from home, with flexibility to suit your schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Purchase Ledger Management
Accurately record purchase invoices using Dext and Xero
Match receipts and supporting documents to transactions
Sales Ledger Management
Extract and compile sales data from various systems, including EPOS, online booking platforms, and client spreadsheets
Review and reconcile sales figures against payment processor reports and bank receipts
Ensure accurate VAT categorisation of sales income across different revenue streams
Bank and Account Reconciliation
Reconcile client current accounts, credit card merchant (PDQ) accounts, and petty cash balances on a weekly basis
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Client Communication
Liaise with clients and their team members to request missing documentation or clarify transactions
About You
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper (ideally within a practice or client-facing role)
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero, Dext & Excel
Comfortable working with a high volume of transactions
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Confident and professional communicator, both written and verbal, for liaising with team members and clients
