We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring the integrity of our financial data. Duties
Manage and accurately record all financial transactions using accounting software.
Maintain the accounts inbox, responding to supplier and customer queries in a timely and professional manner.
Chase outstanding debtors and maintain effective credit control procedures.
Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and control accounts, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
Process accounts payable and receivable efficiently, including supplier payments and customer invoicing.
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and supporting schedules for management review.
Produce regular financial reports and summaries, highlighting variances and key trends where required.
Assist with payroll processing, pensions, and employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Maintain organised, accurate, and auditable financial records in line with company policies and legal obligations.
Support year-end accounts and external audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and explanations.
Monitor cash flow, flag potential issues, and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT returns, CIS (if applicable), and other statutory submissions.
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
Experience
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within a professional environment
Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero is essential
Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
Experience managing accounts payable, receivable, and bank reconciliations
Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work independently whilst maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines
