Job Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive self-employed Bookkeeper to join our team, initially on a temporary basis (3 month term) with the possibility of the role becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, they must be a problem solver and also have strong auditing skills. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and contributing to the overall efficiency of the organisation.

Ideally, this is a full time position, however we will consider part-time/flexible working for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities



Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers and journals. Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and vendors. Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management review. Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies as needed. Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes. Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards. Provide support in the implementation of new accounting software as required.

Skills



Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software is essential. Experience working in the construction sector is essential. Experience with Xero or Sage is highly desirable. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and bookkeeping principles. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and problem-solving. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with team members and external stakeholders.
