Job Overview



We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accounting software and a keen eye for detail to contribute to our company's success.

Key Responsibilities



Daily & Weekly Bookkeeping



Record all financial transactions accurately (sales, purchases, bank movements, petty cash). Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant accounts. Manage debtor and creditor ledgers. Process customer invoices and payments. Reconcile supplier statements and manage payment runs.

VAT & Compliance



Prepare and submit VAT returns (ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC rules). Keep up to date with VAT changes relevant to the business. Ensure financial records adhere to statutory requirements and company policies.

Payroll Support (if required)



Prepare payroll information for submission to our payroll provider or accountant. Track staff hours, holiday, and expenses. Process employee expense claims. Post payroll journal and reconcile wages control account, HMRC tax & NI control account & pension control account

Month-End Duties



Complete month-end reconciliations (bank, credit card, payroll journals). Produce monthly profit & loss statements, balance sheet, cash flow updates, and other internal reports. ?? should be done really.... Flag any anomalies or financial risks to management.

Year-End Preparation



Prepare full year-end bookkeeping pack for the accountant. Ensure all ledgers are accurate and up to date. Support the accountant with any additional queries or documentation needed for annual accounts.

General Duties



Maintain organised digital filing systems for all financial documents. Work closely with management to streamline financial processes.

Skills & Experience



Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Accounts Assistant (minimum 2-3 years). Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping. Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 18.00-22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week

Work Location: In person
