We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Utilities Accountant with strong property industry experience to manage day-to-day bookkeeping, utilities administration, and property accounting.
This is a part-time, flexible role but requires regular on-site presence (minimum 3 days/week in the office, ideally more depending on applicant location and schedule).
The role can be either on a contractor or employed basis.
Key Responsibilities
Utilities & Property Accounting
Manage utility bills across a large property portfolio (gas, electric, water, council tax, broadband).
Reconcile utility accounts, track discrepancies, and ensure timely onboarding/offboarding during tenant turnover.
Handle meter readings, supplier queries, and bill validation.
Bookkeeping
Maintain daily bookkeeping in Xero with absolute accuracy.
Post invoices, receipts, credit notes, and supplier payments.
Manage reconciliations and ensure up-to-date ledgers.
Support month-end processes alongside the finance team.
Credit Control & AP/AR
Support credit control, particularly with utility-related recoveries.
Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve billing issues.
General Finance Support
Assist with filing, documentation, auditing preparations, and finance administration.
Required Experience
You must have:
Property industry experience (mandatory)
Without this, utility workflows and supplier structures will be too difficult to learn.
Strong bookkeeping background
Several years in bookkeeping roles.
Experience handling multi-entity or high-volume environments preferred.
Advanced Xero skills
Confident, efficient user of Xero.
Able to keep accounts clean, reconciled, and audit-ready.
Utilities experience (highly preferred)
Familiarity with utility onboarding/offboarding for properties.
Understanding of how suppliers structure tariffs, deposits, billing cycles.
Accuracy & reliability
Someone thorough, meticulous, and consistent.

Excellent communicator and problem-solver.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Able to commit to a long-term, stable part-time role.
