Expand Accounts is a fast growing accountancy practice specialising in the construction and trades industry. We work with builders, roofers, scaffolders, HVAC firms and other trades businesses to give them proper financial control, tax efficient structures and a finance team that actually drives growth, not just compliance.
We're looking for someone reliable, organised and accurate who can take ownership of monthly bookkeeping, admin processes, client onboarding and cashflow forecasting updates. If you're detail-focused, proactive and able to keep multiple plates spinning without being chased, this is for you.
The role
Complete monthly bookkeeping for all clients (Xero + Dext)
Maintain clean reconciliations weekly and chase missing paperwork
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss reports for the director and Client Accountant
Support onboarding for new clients, including system setup and gathering all required information
Assist with cashflow forecasting (Float), including weekly updates and projections
Maintain internal systems, workflows and SharePoint folder structures
Handle day-to-day practice admin including client reminders, deadline tracking and document management
Support compliance tasks: AML documentation, AAT requirements, GDPR procedures
Keep client jobs organised, updated and moving through the outsourced bookkeeping team
Spot bookkeeping issues early (missing bank feeds, duplicates, incorrect allocations) and resolve quickly
What we're looking for
Strong bookkeeping experience (Xero essential, Dext preferred)
Good understanding of VAT, CIS basics and bookkeeping fundamentals
Confident preparing basic monthly reports (P&L)
Highly organised, reliable and able to work independently
Strong communication skills (email, WhatsApp and calls)
Fast learner who's comfortable with systems and processes
Experience with construction/trades clients is a bonus but not essential
Someone who can create and strengthen the practice with SOP's that allow us to run smoothly behind the scenes
What we offer
25,000 salary
Flexible working, hybrid after probation (Cannock)
Autonomy and trust once trained
Clear processes, training and support (especially for cashflow forecasting)
A role that genuinely impacts clients and keeps the practice moving
Exposure to a fast scaling firm with ambitious growth plans
Regular feedback, performance check-ins and opportunities to grow
