We're looking for a

Bookkeeper

to join our finance team on a

6-month maternity cover

contract -- someone who's detail-driven, proactive, and confident managing day-to-day finance operations in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The Role



The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the smooth running of daily accounting operations, and ensuring that all financial processes are completed efficiently.
A key focus of this role will be

managing debtors and ensuring timely client payments

, maintaining strong relationships with partners, agencies, and advertisers.

Key Responsibilities



Maintain accurate financial records using

Xero.



Process daily accounting transactions including

accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries

.

Manage the debtors ledger

, including:

o Raising and sending client invoices promptly.

o Monitoring aged debtors and following up on overdue accounts.

o Liaising with commercial and client teams to ensure payment issues are resolved quickly.

o Preparing regular debtor reports and cashflow updates for management.

Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and payments in a timely and accurate manner.

Assist with month-end reporting and reconciliations.

Support payroll processing and expense management.

Assist in preparing VAT returns and liaise with external accountants where required.

Contribute to process improvements within the finance function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Skills and Experience



Proven experience as a

Bookkeeper

or

Accounts Assistant

, ideally within a

media, marketing, or creative industry

.

Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial controls.

Demonstrated experience managing

debtors/accounts receivable

and maintaining positive client relationships.

Proficiency in

Xero

and

Microsoft Excel

(or similar software).

Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable Qualifications



AAT or equivalent bookkeeping qualification (essential).

Experience in an SME or agency environment.

Interest in

sports and media

is a plus!
